The Arts

We believe deeply in the wide-ranging benefits of exposing children to all types of art.  Participating regularly in the arts can have magical effects on a child’s ability to concentrate, communicate and develop creative solutions to problems.  In a world that increasingly values the ability to innovate, instilling in children the ability to create and imagine different possibilities is essential.  It is for these reasons that the arts are a central component of our curriculum.

All students in our elementary school participate in visual and performing arts classes in which they learn the skills used in various types of visual arts as well as art history, music theory, singing and instrumentation.  There are also options for those students eager to delve even further into performing arts – students may join choir and drama class starting in 2^nd grade and may join band starting in 3^rd grade.
