From Kindergarten to 6th Grade: Supporting Students at Every Level
The elementary years are full of growth, academically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually, and our elementary school program provides a warm, encouraging environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Research from the American Psychological Association shows that the habits children develop in elementary school, such as perseverance, study skills, and emotional regulation, strongly influence long-term academic and personal success. At Phoenix Ranch School, we nurture these milestones through hands-on learning, meaningful guidance, and dedicated classroom guides who help each child build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. With small classes, individualized attention, and a curriculum that goes beyond the basics, we prepare students not just for school but for life.
Language Arts & Literacy Growth
Your child will learn to read, write, and communicate with confidence, moving from foundational phonics and sentence-building in early grades to persuasive writing, research papers, poetry, and strong reading comprehension skills in upper grades. These experiences support key milestones such as expanding vocabulary, identifying themes, analyzing characters, presenting ideas clearly, and developing a genuine love for literature.
Writing Skills & Written Expression
Students develop strong writing foundations through handwriting, grammar, storytelling, and structured writing introduced in age-appropriate ways. As they grow, they practice editing, organizing ideas, using text evidence, and expressing themselves clearly, milestones that support success in middle school and beyond.
Mathematics Development (Singapore Math)
Using the highly respected Singapore Math approach, your child learns math through concrete, pictorial, and abstract stages that deepen true understanding. These methods strengthen milestones such as mental math, multi-step problem-solving, logical reasoning, and the ability to explain mathematical thinking, skills proven to improve long-term math confidence.
Science, STEM, & Real-World Exploration
Through hands-on experiments, gardening, engineering projects, and lab investigations, students learn how the world works and how systems connect. These experiences support milestones like forming hypotheses, observing patterns, collaborating with peers, and thinking critically, abilities linked to stronger STEM achievement later in life.
Spanish Language & Cultural Understanding
Your child will learn Spanish through storytelling, vocabulary-building, movement activities, and immersive experiences like cultural field trips. These lessons support milestones such as conversational basics, memory-building, pronunciation, and appreciation for diverse cultures, skills that strengthen communication and empathy.
Technology, Coding & Digital Citizenship
Students learn typing, coding, animation, graphic design, movie creation, and intro-level robotics using age-appropriate tools. Along the way, they reach milestones such as responsible technology use, digital safety, online communication, and creative problem solving, essential skills in today's world.
Art, Music & Creative Development
Through visual arts, music theory, singing, instrumentation, drama, and optional band or choir, students build creativity and confidence. These experiences support milestones like emotional expression, fine motor refinement, concentration, teamwork, and the ability to think imaginatively.
Athletics, Health & Physical Coordination
Daily sports instruction helps children strengthen gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and teamwork through movement and physical play. These activities support milestones such as rule-following, cooperation, perseverance, and a healthy relationship with physical activity.
Social-Emotional Growth & Character Development
Through the Character Counts framework, students learn trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship, skills that shape who they become. Daily practice supports milestones like emotional regulation, conflict resolution, empathy, leadership, and positive decision-making.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Field trips, hands-on garden experiences, science lab projects, and community events help students connect concepts from books to real life. These activities support milestones such as curiosity-driven learning, independence, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Everyone from the principal to all of the teachers are incredibly kind and loving teachers. They teach children to think on their own, while mastering their studies. They teach them the importance of independence and completing tasks while challenging them to grow and apply themselves with dignity and respect. Our son has changed immensely since stepping foot on this campus and receiving guidance from his fifth grade teacher. He is eager to learn and be a part of the education process. prior to coming to Phoenix Ranch. He was more reserved and would hide in his classes. He is now more curious in various subjects and looking things up related to science, mathematics, history and art!

Honestly, the only thing that I can think of is not knowing who our director of preschool is. When we first started we would see the director everywhere, she knew all the kids names and I truly felt her passion. I see Mrs Aguilar all the time in her office, never our director. It could be me, and the times I go. I just feel the difference as a parent

More communication to the parents when teachers leave and there is a change. Additionally if there are subs. The first week of the year one teacher was not there and the parents did not receive communication on who was covering or for how long.

We truly love many aspects of this school, especially the staff and the overall atmosphere on campus. Our children feel welcomed and cared for, and there are many teachers and staff members who are clearly dedicated, warm, and invested in the students. That sense of care is something we value deeply as a family. That said, there are a few areas where we feel the school could grow and improve. One challenge has been the turnover in the preschool director role. The frequent changes have felt somewhat turbulent and, at times, have made it difficult to feel fully confident in the consistency of leadership and decision-making at that level. Another area of concern has been the timing of school events. Many events take place during the workday, which has been difficult for a large number of working families. Others require early pickup with the expectation that students return later, which can be challenging logistically. For example, we’ve often wondered why events like the Halloween parade couldn’t take place in the morning during the regular school day, making them more accessible for families. Communication around systems and procedures is another area where clarity would be helpful. We had ongoing questions about potty training expectations and supports, and it wasn’t until our children transitioned to a different classroom that we felt those expectations were clearly communicated and consistently supported. At that point, we had teachers who partnered closely with us and helped our children succeed. If potty training is a requirement for advancement into the three-year-old classroom, it would be helpful for that to be more clearly outlined and consistently supported across classrooms from the start. Lastly, we were initially very excited to join the PTA, hoping to be an active part of the parent community. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet those expectations. Parent involvement felt limited, organization and oversight seemed inconsistent, meetings often focused on small items over extended periods of time, and flyers frequently contained incorrect information. Ultimately, we chose to step back, with the hope that the PTA becomes more structured and cohesive in the future. Overall, this is a school with a lot of heart, strong educators, and real potential. With more consistent leadership, clearer communication, and increased consideration for working families, we believe it could be an even stronger experience for students and parents alike.

I love the community. The teachers, administration, they care about the kids. They take the time to get to know you and the kids. They listen to concerns and try their best to accommodate or explain why things are the why they are. The education is excellent and teachers take the time make sure the kids understand what is being taught.
